Heritage Park

The Heritage Park showcases local history from the Mayan and Spanish inhabitants of Honduras

  • Visit the partially reconstructed, partially original section, of the 1556 road used by Spanish Conquistadors to bring gold, silver and other valuables to the waiting ships in the Bay of Trujillo. You can hike the original road, or the nearby hammock bridges and nature trails provide a less strenuous alternative.
  • Visit the museum exhibiting one of the largest collections of Mayan artifacts in the region along with Spanish historical items.
  • Tour the Mayan caves used as an overnight stop on the ancient trade route of the Aguan Valley.
